Brokebike mountain

Kiko Ruiz Claverol / Spain / 2007 / 19 min / Colour

Javi is a young professional, tired and stressed out. He decides to take a day off and heads for his grandparents’ mountain village in a beautiful corner of the Pyrenees. But what should have been an idyllic day soon turns into a nightmare. In the old stone village, Javi meets an old man who, with his dog, seems to be everywhere. And, up there, Javi comes face-to-face with all the calm in the world. It’s too much for him. Javi is unable to adapt to the new situation and to the rhythm of the mountains, and seems truly out of place with his portable computer, his iPod, the latest mountain bike, and his designer clothes. Once in a while he closes his eyes and dreams of being a cowboy, and to have everything under control, and to get rid of the old man and his dog. A small accident makes him change his way of seeing things.
