IO STO CON LA SPOSA
ON THE BRIDE’S SIDE
Antonio Augugliaro, Gabriele Del Grande, Khaled Soliman Al Nassiry / Italy, Palestine / 2014 / 89 min / Colour
A Palestinian poet and an Italian journalist stage a fictitious wedding to help five Syrian migrants reach Sweden. Dressed as the bride and groom and their guests, they depart from Milan and journey across Europe, facing police checkpoints, border crossings, and bureaucratic obstacles. Along the way, the group experiences moments of tension, but also solidarity and humanity, as fiction becomes the only way to overcome the barriers. This intense and political account sheds light on the challenges and dangers of contemporary migration, while highlighting the determination of those who fight for freedom and a better future.
