SUI SENTIERI
ON THE TRAILS
Michele Trentini, Andrea Colbacchini / Italy / 2025 / 59 min / Colour
Along the paths of the Trentino Alps, carefully maintained by volunteers who ensure signage is clear and safe for hikers, new forms of trekking, sport, and leisure are increasingly being experimented with. Alongside hikers who slowly climb the mountains, downhill riders tear through bike park trails at breakneck speed, while not far away, others practice barefoot hiking or “forest bathing.” Without casting judgment, the film offers a portrait of this evolving landscape and raises timely questions. Behind the alluring English terms, is there a growing tendency to turn the mountains into theme parks? Does the ever-increasing number of visitors risk disrupting the slowness and peace that have long defined the mountain hiking experience? And above all, do we remember that up there—on the trails—we are not alone?
