IL PERICOLO CHE SALVA

THE DANGER THAT SAVES

Tommaso Paris / Italy / 2024 / 4 min / Colour

“Where danger grows, so does that which saves.” The quote from Friedrich Hölderlin guides the director’s vision, which focuses on the idea of “saving” through a visual exploration of Morocco with images filmed in the desert, in the mountains, and on the ocean shores. The protagonists are animals: painted on prehistoric rocks, roaming the dunes, chained and caged in markets, butchered in slaughterhouses, or feeding and flying above waste dumps. This short documentary evokes the deep, ancient relationship between humans and animals, poised between myth and the present day. The animals appear to be overcome by human dominance, exploitation, and unnatural conditions—but it is precisely “where danger grows” that a glimpse of possible liberation begins to emerge.
