Schwarze Milch

Black Milk

Italian premiere

For twenty years Wessi lived in Germany, separated from her sister Ossi who remained in Mongolia. When she decides to return to her native land, her wish is to rediscover her authentic roots, joining the nomadic life that Ossi leads in the Gobi desert. But the desire to participate immediately in this tiring, yet free, life clashes with the profound mark that Western customs have left on her. Wessi is an emancipated woman, listening to the passions that move her and that she intends to satisfy, while Ossi lives immersed in a dense network of relationships in delicate balance. Inspired in part by the biography of the director, who chooses to take on the role of the protagonist as well, Schwarze Milch captures between the essential and exciting landscapes of the Gobi a sincere clash of cultures, free of hypocrisy. The meeting of two women, their reunion and the blossoming of two lives that discover their shared existence.
