TENGRI

Canada / 2012 / 5 min / Colour

According to the Mongolian shamanic tradition of wind burial, nature chooses the final resting place for the deceased. Where the body falls, due to the shaking of the cart that transports it, becomes its burial site. The immediacy and colours of this painting, brought to life through stop-motion technique, resurrects bits of precious cultures and saves from oblivion the bitter-sweetness of ancestral traditions and stories such as this one.
