A shepherd moves through the streets of a metropolis with his flock. It is Renato Zucchelli, the last shepherd remaining in Milan. In his travels to reach and return from the high mountain pastures, this kind-eyed shepherd invades the city’s avenues and streets. During his voyage to the city, Renato Zucchelli talks about himself and shows his jovial, as well as melancholy side. With him walk another unusual shepherd and their inseparable dogs. Renato’s dream is to bring his fl ock to the inaccessible centre of the city to meet the children who have never seen it. And so, his voyage transforms into a fable that speaks of dreams and freedom.
Marco Bonfanti
Born in Milan in 1980, in 2009 he directed Ordalìa (dentro di me), chosen for screening by more than fifty festivals and winner of eleven prizes. News of the final scene of L’ultimo pastore, in which the flock arrives in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo, travelled around the world and appeared in the Washington Post, New York Times, El Pais, Bild and Life.
