In the idyllic mountains of Bavaria, the borders are closed to impede the entry of clandestine immigrants from Africa. Even Bernie, a young agent guarding his post on top of the mountains, is forced to lower the bar and make sure that the immigrants don’t cross the frontier illegally. But one evening an unexpected encounter makes him quit his agent’s role and leads him to behave in a truly unconventional way.
Matthias Koßmehl
Born in Munich in 1987, after various positions in the film and television sector and directing the short film Requiem für eine Krämerseele, from 2008 to 2013 he studied at the Facoltà di Design e Arti at the Libera Università in Bolzano. He participated in the XIX Film Festival della Lessinia with Welcome to Bavaria. Café Waldluft, his first feature film, has won various awards including the DEFA prize at the DOK Leipzig Festival in 2015.
