Although we know and have seen much about Himalayan expeditions, the figure of the Sherpa has long remained in the shadows. We know almost nothing about their lives and origins. Yet they are the true “heroes” of modern mountaineering. Without their strength, tenacity, wilfulness and generosity, many of the most important expeditions would not have been possible. The film recounts the story of a few Sherpa, accompanying them to their village to introduce us to their families and show us the reality that lies behind the mountaineering feats that are often blind to everything other than the challenge to reach the top.
