The invasiveness of human activity on the rural environment was massive, at least until the mid-twentieth century, even in the Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennines. The cutting of trees, the creation of new pastures, and hunting have contributed to the disappearance of lynxes, wolves and deer. Some animals, such as the European wild cat (one of the protagonists of this documentary), have resisted homo sapiens and have found a possible coexistence. It is the men who seem to struggle to find coexistence with the wild, although those mountains are now almost completely uninhabited. An investigation of the complex relationship between Man and Nature conducted with timely interviews and with rare images of wild animals, some of which are truly spectacular, made with the help of camera traps, to discover that not only men have to "resist" in the mountains, but so do the animals.

  Paolo Rossi

  After his agricultural training, since 2010 he has dedicated himself to creating images of wild animals on the Apennines and the Alps, published in various photographic books. Since 2017 he has been working as a director on some short films. He collaborated with Nicola Rebora for the making of the documentaries Felis-gatto sarvægo (2018) and Survivors of homo sapiens (2021).

  A wildlife photographer, since 2018 he has devoted himself to directing along with his colleague Paolo Rossi, making the documentaries Felis - gatto sarvægo (2018), on the wild cat living in freedom on the Ligurian Apennines, and Survivors of homo sapiens (2021).
