Mamadou, Ossoul, André, Allassane, Charlotte, Hervé, Justin: they have all crossed the snowy passes that separate the Italian border with France and the Briançonnais. Now they are waiting, subject to the time-consuming bureaucratic process, to be able to resume their journey through the snow. The suspension in which they are immersed allows Marianne Chaud, who was born and lives in those places, to approach them and give testimony to their words through the faces and bodies marked by the violence they have suffered and the complexity of the passage of time in exile, a time marked by the slowness of waiting. With a camera and a microphone, working without a crew, the director has built the depth necessary for a personal relationship with her protagonists, with whom she shares the story of an adventure not yet complete.

  Marianne Chaud

  A French ethnologist and documentary filmmaker born in 1976, her anthropological research focuses primarily on the Ladakh-Zanskar region of the Himalayas. She specialized at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She directed Himalaya, la terre des femmes (2007) and Himalaya, le chemin du ciel (2008), both Lessinia d’Argento winners and awardees at the Trento Film Festival and the Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Montagnain Autrans. La Nuit nomade (2012) also earned recognition at the Film Festival della Lessinia.
