L'anno dei sette inverni

The Year of the Seven Winters

Marco Zuin / Italy / 2021 / 18 min / Colour

The time of isolation which the pandemic emergency has forced entire communities to endure has remained suspended in the solitude of everyday spaces: the perception of this absence was also evident to the writer Matteo Righetto, who spent the months of containment between the Fodòm woods and the Colle Santa Lucia valley, in a hut near a small mountain village of only four hundred inhabitants. The link with a severe and ancestral nature dominates the profile of a winter that seems motionless, without end, in which the writer sinks to refine new levels of perception of reality, relying on the minute, on the life of plants, on the natural rhythms that are daily distorted by the Anthropocene.
