Stories from the Chestnut woods

1950, on the border between Italy and Slovenia, the shade of the woods hosts a community struggling not to fall apart. Between ancient pains and horizons hidden by the mountains, an old carpenter and the last "castagnara", or chestnut gatherer, will cross their path.
Gregor Božič
Gregor Božič was born in Nova Gorica in 1984. He completed his studies at the Slovenian National Film School AGRFT, at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and at the Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie in Berlin. He worked as a cinematographer and with Zgodbe iz kostanjevih gozdov, his debut feature film, he was selected for the Toronto Film Festival.
