Manufatti in pietra
Stone Buildings
Michele Trentini / Italy / 2018 / 33 min / Colour
A reconnaissance of the stone artefacts that are still found along the little-beaten paths of our Alps tells us about a weakened, but not extinct, relationship between man and nature, capable of arousing new reflections on landscape, architecture and respect for the environment. This is a transversal, but surprising, way to the knowledge of material culture, history, ethnography of rural and mountain communities. The documentary observes and tells about some of these artefacts during the winter period, when the nature that surrounds them appears bare and almost immobile, making them less invisible protagonists. In 2018, UNESCO entered "the art of dry stone walls" in the list of intangible assets declared World Heritage. A heritage of constructions that are unique, exceptional and of great cultural, environmental and historical importance; a legacy from past generations that asks to be preserved and handed down.
