RAMBOY

Matthias Joulaud , Lucien Roux / Switzerland / 2022 / 31 min / Colour

Italian premiere

On Achill Island, off the mountainous west coast of Ireland, there are more sheep than people. Cian is a teenager who hopes to spend the summer holidays playing football with his friends. For his grandfather Martin, however, the time has come to introduce him to work on his sheep farm. This is how Cian begins to discover the secrets of the shepherd's trade. Between football matches and outings with his friends, Cian learns from his grandfather to train the dog, cut the rams' horns, and shear the sheep. He must get up early every day and his grandfather is strict. As much as the boy enjoys helping him, he realizes it's almost a full-time job. Ramboy is a tender and dreamlike film that authentically portrays relationships and communicates the patience it takes to learn how to pass a craft from one generation to the next. It is the story of a young man's growth and his questions about the future.
