A man and his father, alone in a rice field, work side by side. This is an effort they share with the generations that preceded them, who built their identity, nourished their lives, and that seems to have come to an end. Halong is the last descendant of a lineage of Taiwanese farmers, and must choose to either sell the land and see it transformed for the benefit of tourism or resist and continue to farm the land, bending to each season in the silent song of the paternal hearth. Director Su Hung En talks about his land and development that rarely meets real human progress. He observes, with long, slow-moving shots, the path of a man divided by doubt, whose gaze goes beyond the objective, looking for a road that takes him far from decisions that can no longer wait, and that will determine the fate of his family.

Su Hung En
Born in Taiwan, he completed a degree in radio, televisione and film at Shih Hsin University in 2015. He was born of mixed Aboriginal and Taiwanese parents. The transition between these two identities has helped him to observe the reality of his country from different perspectives. He has won awards for his photo reports and short films. His first feature documentary, The Mountain, was awarded best picture at the South Taiwan Film Festival in 2015.
