KRATKI IZLET

A BRIEF EXCURSION

Igor Bezinović / Croatia (Hrvatska) / 2017 / 75 min / Colour

Summer drifts lazily by at the festival in the mountains of Motovun, between parties, concerts and beers. Nauseated by the inertia of the days that blend into one and other, Stola gives in to the insistence of Roko, an old acquaintance who appears out of nowhere and convinces him and five other teens to visit a nearby medieval monastery that supposedly holds splendid frescoes. What should have been a brief trip soon transforms into a voyage toward the unknown, when their bus breaks down and the group decides to proceed on foot. Does Roko really know the way? Are there really frescoes? Above all, as the hours pass, why do the boys get lost, one by one? Filmed with almost documentary-like simplicity, and constantly accompanied by the voice of its protagonist, Kratki izlet is the melancholy portrait of an entire generation, an allegory of the difficult passage from youth to the uncertainty of adulthood.
