Primascesa - la montagna creata dall'uomo

First ascent - The man-made mountain

Leonardo Panizza / Italy / 2021 / 52 min / Colour

Environmental pollution and the massive presence of rubbish is a drama that also involves the mountains and the most remote peaks. Two young climbers and mountaineers, in search of a summit that is still untouched, turn their gaze to one of the peaks on which no one dares to venture: a man-made mountain, impassable and malodorous. Leonardo Panizza, at his first experience as a director, together with Simon Sartori tackles a surreal climb through a mountain dump that is approached as a real expedition, putting in front of the lens what we want to remove from our lives and from the collective unconscious: the waste products of our everyday life, which shape nature and reality creating new horizons and new smelly mountains, yet to be explored.

Trained as a psychologist, he has always frequented the mountains of Trentino, attempting to narrate those places through words from unprecedented perspectives. He devotes himself mainly to climbing and ski mountaineering but is also passionate about autonomous and zero-impact trekking. PrimAscesa- La montagna creata dall'uomo (2021) is his first documentary.
