NAUZ

Jochen Unterhofer / Italy / 2016 / 36 min / Colour

Verses in the Ladin language dedicated to daily life, which for centuries perpetuates in the Val Badia. They were written by the poet, Roberta Dapunt, and are accompanied by the music of Eduardo Demetz and images filmed at the farm where Dapunt lives with her husband, a sculptor. Poetry and images intermingle to tell of the traditional, grim ritual of the pig slaughter, with its smoking hot, quartered entrails, the red blood on the snow, and the still eyes of the beheaded animal. And so, it is the verse itself that becomes observer and narrator: «Ladin verse, observe from the window and see, above all, time and season».
