HEIDI

Alain Gsponer / Germany, Switzerland / 2015 / 106 min / Colour

Heidi is a little orphan raised by an aunt who, unable to continue caring for her, sends her to stay with her grumpy grandfather who lives, isolated, in the mountains. Here the girl happily spends her days in the open air and meadows, grazing her grandfather's goats in the splendid Swiss Alps. Her naturally playful, carefree spirit warms her grandfather's heart, and will help her when she is brusquely taken away to Frankfurt to be the companion and playmate of the young, bourgeois Clara, confined to a wheelchair. Heidi comes into contact with the world of city life, but continues to dream of her mountains. This is a new, cinematic version of the celebrated tale by Johanna Spyri.
