FRAGMENTS DU PARADIS

ABOUT HEAVEN

Stéphane Goël / Switzerland / 2015 / 85 min / Colour

To climb a mountain is to climb toward Paradise, even more so if the mountain is in Switzerland, a land that some believe or experience as though an"earthly paradise". For those nearing the twilight of life, even in atheist and agnostic Switzerland, the question of what lies on the other side comes up. The residents of a rest home, asked about this, express themselves with hope, certainty, and doubts. But perhaps Paradise is only that place in the heart where the elderly father of the director has requested his ashes be dispersed. "If there is Paradise, it must resemble that place". And so, father and son walk together toward the mountains.
